Scores of youthful Nigerians yesterday kicked against the date for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be directed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The hopefuls showed notices with different engravings, for example, "Confirmations are yet to close, why directing another UTME now?"; "Frame isn't for income age, quit draining our folks," "2017 UTME held in May, why March in 2018?", "2018 affirmations not straightforward".
They said a significant number of them, who had planned to be conceded by different organizations amid the 2017/2018 scholastic logbook year, simply discovered for this present week that they were not conceded and that short of what one month can't be sufficient to get ready for another examination.
Tending to the press amid the challenge, National President of the Association of Tutorial School Operators (ATSO), Dotun Sodunke, said if permitted to hold as booked, Nigeria would encounter another round of mass disappointment.
Sodunke included that organizations like the University of Benin, Yaba College of Technology, among others, just discharged affirmation list on Wednesday, and that the understudies who had connected to such foundations would not focus on arrangement for another examination.
He said; "The new head of JAMB should be called to arrange. He ought not be diverted by the rapture of income age. The eventual fate of this nation relies upon these youngsters.
"Support is certain that on the off chance that you lead the exam early, numerous hopefuls would fall flat, and they would return to enroll again one year from now. This is so on the grounds that their youngsters don't school here.
"Confirmations are yet to be closed, yet you are settling date for another. Who does that? The presentation of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is additionally a fake. You would be conceded on JAMB gateway and on CAPS page it would deny you affirmation.
"Everything is done in mystery as we don't know which schools are sorting out post-UTME and which ones are definitely not. Each organization is doing what it needs. Things must not go on like this."
Responding, JAMB representative, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, clarified that there was yet no reason for the delay.
Benjamin said; "We have to put the enthusiasm of this nation above narrow minded intrigue. The applicants are not the ones organizing dissent but rather the instructional exercise focuses administrators, and guardians must intercede to get control them over", New Telegraph cited him as saying.
"They are doing this since they need to keep the applicants at their focuses till May with the goal that they can get more cash from them. Things are not done that way.
"Support isn't the only one around here. All partners in Nigeria's instruction segment have understood that our schedule must be sorted out and firm as we encounter abroad, and it must begin some place.
"Regardless of whether paradise will fall, the new government needs to guarantee that scholarly logbook begins each August, and that is the reason all affirmations will be closed by August this year. So if these applicants are influenced, we apologize to them, it is for their great and the benefit of the country."
